Blinking OD light on 1998 explorer

Just happen for the first time this is a 1998 4.0 sohv with the 1-2-3-OD transmision. It happened while running out on the highway at about 70 mph. light has since went out and has not stated flashing since this, can turn OD on and off like normal goes in and out of over drive fine, Reading a lot of post on here to see what happend or if this happen again, what may need replaced. What I would like to know is what tranny I am dealing with, is this the 5r55e or is this the 4r I am thinking it is the 4 sinces its 1-2-3-od and where is the speed sensor located on tranny located, if this would happen again I would like to swap this out with a new one before going for any type of rebuild. Steve, that is a 5R55E. I don't know where the speed sensor is on a '98. You should get the codes read ASAP. It takes a scanner that is capable of reading Ford transmission codes. That will tell you whats going on, and then you can take it from there. Best wishes.
