OMG all roads to hell are paved with good intentions. I have been working to replace the water pump in my 97 Mountaineer. First I have had to deal with the freezing temps, than 2 bolts were particularly hard to remove. Then my good hearted neighbor closed my hood with the latch already engaged. (Cause that is where I lean over cause I'm short)Now his wife decided to help me by straightening up. Damned if she didn't discard my cardboard and pulled my bolts out. I only know where the 2 bolts I was cleaning go and am clueless as to the others and all are different sizes. I am now to the point where I can put everything back and want to make sure I do it right cause it has been another CJs problem. Please can anyone help??? I keep searching the internet, my Chilton's does not show and neither does my owners manual. Thanks CJ

Welcome to 302s
There are 4 long bolts that go through the water pump and timing cover those 4 bolts need thread sealant or anti seize on the threads as they enter the water jacket in the engine

Dorman sells a water pump bolt kit for this but it’s kinda joke. Only helps in a pinch

You can do this!

Also tell your neighbors to stop helping you.
