Hi all,

I'm building two separate boxes for the Sony Xplod subs I will be receiving HOPEFULLY next weekend (I've said that about 5 times now) in order to sell them, since nobody apparently wants them if they arent in a box. I have one box put together ready for a sub (looks pretty good for a first time job, if I do say so myself ;) ) and its just a regular box, no angle or nothing, a plain box. Its about 9.25" deep, 15 " tall, and 19" wide I think, and I have the hole cut for the sub and a small hole in back for the terminals. Now, my problem is, should I go ahead and put carpet on the box or put some type of coating over it? I dont want to sell somebody just a plain old ugly box, I want it to look good. Could I put a few coats of bondo or something along those lines on it and then paint it? I'd rather coat it with something than put carpet on it. If I cant use bondo, what can I use? Since the subs are red, I would like to have the box black for a really cool look :D Thanks for the help,

Grant

fill the seams with silocne for optimal sealing, and carpet it, looks much better~!

silicon to seal it...herculiner to cover it... just remember, watch your HOOTUS! :smoke:

is that part of the deal with that guy that gave you the MTX and JBL stuff?

did you hook up your system yet?

i think you should either carpet it, or use black vinyl.

Lee, the Sony subs are part of the deal I worked with the guy. People dont really want to buy them if tehy arent in a box, so I set to work making a box for each. I'm just not that excited about having to carpet it, seems like it would be really hard to do. I'm going to try to get the system hooked up once I get my new HU. I might use one of the Sonies so there is less bass for my mom and dad to complain about ;)

Carpeting

Get a $15 staple gun and some elmer's glue. Goop up the sides with glue and then stretch the fabric and staple it. It's EZ and turns out amazingly well.
