I ran the Bradshaw trail with some friends for 3 days. Trip was a lot of fun with some fun technical trails, great scenery, and lots of history. We started at the Salton Sea and headed to Blythe. The Bradshaw trail itself could be done in a day since its only 70 miles of well graded dirt road but there are a lot of side trails to take. Pinnacles canyon was the first side trail. This trail ended up being more difficult than expected but was a lot of fun. We spent the first night near the Red Cloud Mine and spent some time exploring the area. The next day we headed south on gas line road to visit some more mines and the Kings Throne ( hill that Patton bulldozed a road up so he could watch his tanks). We then followed the bradshaw for a while before leaving again to head down Augustine pass. This trail is a very tight winding canyon which would be difficult in a full size truck or with a trailer. We returned to the Bradshaw by grahms pass (well graded road) and camped out near chuckwalla well. We watched the Navy bomb some targets in the chocolate mountain range that night. The last day we headed to wileys well and then south to the geode beds to look for geodes. Never found any but was a fun detour. We then finished the Bradshaw into Blythe stopping to see the Roosevelt mine. It was a great trip with almost no one else along the trails except for our group. I would say it is similar to the Mojave road for anyone who has done that before.

Thanks, looks like fun. My buddy Mike and I take a off road multi-day trip about once per year. I might put this on the list since the start of trail is only a few hours from my door. I really like seeing the pioneer and mining history first hand.

Explorers make great expedition rigs. Just the right size for gear, not too big for taking some difficult side trails.
