Ok, i did a search and didnt find anything. This is driving me crazy. I lost my brake lights last week. So i went to the dealer for a new brake light switch. The one that came out was a nice black plastic one with about 5 wires going to it. The one the dealership gave me was this crappy looking old metal one( looks to be from a Model A lol). They said there was a TSB on the black plastic one and this was the fix. So i said mmmmm ok. I followed the VERY VAGUE instructions that came in the box. I hooked it up so that i had brake lights, cruise control, and could take it out of park. But There is one wire left over and i cant find a place for it, because when i hook it up, either my brake lights dont work or it pops a fuse. Now i have no back pressure in 1st or second gear. Like it just freewheels. It never did that before the brake switch fix. My O/D light flashes on the highway if i make it downshift a few times. and while im coasting with no throttle the RPM's fluctuate about 4-500 rpm's. I can feel it. Its driving me crazy. There just is no where else to put that wire without it affecting something else. PLEASE HELP. Should i convert back to the Black plastic one that advance auto parts sells?

Before you switch things all around again, ask for a copy of the TSB. That should provide the instructions you need.

It was a TSB fix and they gave the instructions to me. It doesnt say anything useful about where all the wires are supposed to go. The new metal one only has a spot for 2 wires. The black plastic one had 5 with a nice plug. The little instruction sheet showed me where the switch is and how to attach it to the pedal. How to run the wires around the steering column. It doesnt even show 5 wires lol. It didnt mention what colors went where. I had to piggy back wires onto the new brake switch to get my cruise and park switch working properly. this was trial and error with a test light and blown fuses. Now ther is one extra wire and no matter how i hook it up either my brake lights wont work or it blows a fuse. so i left it off for now and my torque converter is acting up. The dealer wont let a tech talk to me on the phone, they want me to bring the truck there and have them work on it and i said no thanks. They already ripped me off on an alignment and didnt even touch anything lol. I need to get a factory wiring diagram manual but i dont have one at the moment and i am worried about smoking something.
