Hey guys just bought a 2nd Explorer! Its been sitting for about 3 years so its doing pretty good considering Finally got down to creating a registry for it!
Its a 95 XLT W/Control Trac 4x4
- 4.0L v6 OHV
- Power mirrors, seats, windows, sunroof, locks, well everything..
- 10 disk changer (sony)
- factory ford h/u with tape deck no cd
- rear heat / audio controls
- 4 speed auto
- 4x4 of course, the little knob thing
- Air bags..
- 4 wheel disk brakes
- 290k km on it
Things to fix..
- Bend back the front bumper
- Rear right door dents
- Rear right dogleg/rocker rust/dent
- Front fender dents
- Fog lights
- Rear wiper
- Check engine light randomly comes on
- Dash lights
- Electrical gremlin in interior lighting (wont turn off for a bit once its running)
- Rear hatch handle wont turn without a lot of force
- Hood latch
- Rust on back hatch and under doors
- Figure out how the cd changer works..
- Fabric on center arm rest
- Headliners a bit rotted
- Drivers door lock
- Keyless entry remote
- Whatever that touch entry on the door is doesn't work
- Rear right shackle rotting
- Exhaust whistle
- Sunroof gears are messed
- Top of windshield rusting bad
So far I have a tiny list of things to fix. I bought it under the assumption a head gasket was toast in it, and luckily it doesn't seem so, its running fine
It cost me a grand total of:
$302.67 Canadian $200 for explorer, $100 for tow, $2.67 or so for battery terminals, to get it started
Boosted it first day, started up no problem after sitting over a year! Its my next project, just to fix it up a bit and probably drive it in the summer. Once everything is near fixed I might start modifying it
Anyways enough crap, here is the pics!
Messed up bumper..
Rust on dog leg and dents..
Bad Shackle
Keyless entry
Sunroof stuff
Another side by side
First fix, bumper bending
- Chained it to pull it back down
- Lightly pushed the tree to push it back in
So far so good, I'm running it once a day to keep it going, and see if a head gasket problem does arise.
