Does anyone know what the little brass bolt with oring on bottom of a/c manifold block that bolts to compressor is for? It's about 3/4 long, hollow bolt with Allen setscrew inside, and tip of bolt has a pinhole orifice. I can't for the life of figure out what it's for. I assumed it was for servicing, but no tool fits it, so then figured it was for a sensor on a different model ford that uses the same suction/liquid line. Mine is leaking because setscrew fell out so I'm going to just braze the pinhole shut as it looks like it serves zero function, but I would like to. Know what its for originally.

It's a pressure relief valve

Thanks, its on the high side so makes sense. Ac was working perfect, actually a hair on the under charged side so no idea why it failed. It was a cheapo line from Rockauto so maybe the cause. Thought the compressor blew the shaft seal because oil was on that side, so ended up rebuilding it, then found the brass bolt leaking while vacuuming it down, smh

When you say "line," are you referring to the manifold hose assembly... or some other part? If the MHA, then how long did it last before it leaked? Thanks.

I'm talking about the manifold block that bolts to compressor that has both the high and low lines connected to it. Brass fitting is on the high side of manifold. Line was about 6mos old before it blew out the pressure relief. I have/had no clogs in my system and I never had issues with my cooling. I keep a thermometer in my center vent and it's always at 38-40F and if I had a spike in my high side I'm sure I would've noticed the lack of cooling as I use my a/c 100% of the time. ****ty thing is they don't sell just the fitting here so I had to buy a whole new line assy just to have the fitting from it which was $75. Figured I wouldnt risk another leak or damage to condenser or where the line bolts to and just change out the fitting instead.
