Broken Transmission?

I think I have broken my transmission, but Im not sure. I got stuck in some mud and had to leave my 91 Explorer there overnight, and I still had drive that night. I came back thre next morning, and had no drive in any gears I shifted into and heard no grinding or any response. Ended up calling a wrecker. Does anyone know what might have happened or how I can fix this?

Welcome to this forum! Maybe your shift linkage came apart when you landed in the mud. You mentioned that it did work at first. Maybe some water got mixed in with the fluid while it was sitting overnight. It was in mud, which has water.
