I know it's not an Explorer but the front section of frame is nearly the same. Just posting so that others could get ideas. I'm also posting more details in the B2 registry.

Cad Designed.

I've got the lower part of the skid bent and trimmed. Just have 4 more tubes to notch and it'll be time to start welding.

Got all the tubes cut and Just need to clean them up and the bumper will be ready to put together. Skid plate was ordered. Need to make up tabs to bolt the skid plate on. I've also got to get the light par piece mocked together so that it can be cut. I'll get some threaded inserts welded into the main tube, so that it'll be ready to go.

Here are some of the test pieces I cut.

Messing around with the CAD model.

Looks like the lower part of the skid is too low.

Are you sure it is too low? What view do you have it as? Since the skid plate is further back, if you have it in orthographic view instead of perspective, it could appear that way.

Perspective is turned on. But you do ahve a good point. When I had the lower tube in place it came down just past the pitman arm.

I'll mock up the real bottom tube again and see Just how far down it comes.

Real nice job installing the grill, that looks perfect.

Great design I may borrow some of your design when I redo mine. I like the steering protection.

Looks very nice, why did you make the skid plate go down so far? I would have bent the tubing so it came down to the frame like you did but instead of leaving it strait make it come up a little. It would still protect the steering up not hang down as much. Looks good though.

I've got a Modified Superrunner linkage that will be going back on and I wanted the lower part to come down to protect it.

Here is another teaser

That is a great looking rig, what size tire, lift, etc. ?

What did you use to put round headlights in? I love that older style setup. You have a great two tone going too. White and grey (although primer?) looks awsome together. Did you get a headlight surround (trim) from a different model or fabricate it?

The grill has a few custom pieces added. No I did not puchase anything other than the lights themselves.

Finally got the skid plate. It's too thin now that I see it. I'll mount this one up and once it gets mangled beyond it's limits I'll get one cut out of 1/4".

I've got to trim this one up to make sure it fits so I'll see about getting it done tonight and get some teaser pictures.
