Completed Project Burns SAS thread

Well as a few of you know my X was messeed up a bit due to a accident. so i have been looking for a new plan.
i have my axles (d44/ford9") all i need is to choose what i am gonna do.
i was thinking about thiS:
In the front i plan to use whild horse 5.5 inch coils,

for radius arms i plan to use this.

they are 12 inches longer that the stock radius arms.i have the whole frame from a 78 f-150 that i plan to get the coil buckets and steering off of.
i want to use a 37 inch tire and use 4.88 gears
i dont see a problem with any of this so i need some info to see if i have missed anything

i might have to let them hang. i know that rick did have a set up at one time that let them hang im gonna have to look that up and do some reading

how do they compare in size to the whildhorse coil in diamater

if i remember correctly my Xj coils are like 5.something" OD

most jeeps guys have a pipe inside the upper mount so the coil can move but not escape.

Something doesnt sound right. With the WH coils and extended arms you should have more flex than you will ever need. Check to make sure your trac bar or steering linkage isnt binding a bit and limiting flex.

flex is ok in my mind but i am looking for all sorts of things to work on to inprove my X. im looking a lockers, axle shaft upgrades, ujoint upgrades, and more flex. i think i need to look into my steering

I think I agree with james.

I have the same coils and a wristed arm (not extended) and my front end flexes more than that.

Not sure, maybe ask stic-o. I think he thought about it before he got the WH 5.5s

the 10" jeep Coils are shaped like a stock Explorer/Ranger coil. You have to run the stock 1 1/8"th centering bolt on the bottom like the TTB. I do have some arms for wedges with this center bolt for a TTB type set up. I'm not going to use them. They are set up for hiems on the end, came off DB1's truck. I think there extended some too.

You do not need to wrist an extended arm. You get the same flex extended vs. wristed.

You cant go by that pic. That mound wont flex the suspension out all the way. You need either a forklift or an engine hoist or a really steep ditch. A shop lift will work too. If there is a problem, then it will be either in the steering, the shocks, or the trac bar. There is no need to ever add anything to an extended arm and WH coils. You simply cant use any more travel (once set up right).
