Buy back tips

:rolleyes: Worse are the companies spamming my mailbox telling me my factory coverage is about to expire. How thoughtful. I just sold or traded that vehicle. :snicker:

I get those phone calls lol. Waiting to start getting them on my 2020.. (they are scam companies). I finally had enough of the robo calls for my extended warranty about to expire and this is their last attempt. I finally answered, played along, played dumb, said I would have to talk to my wife. They truly believed I was interested and wanted to close the deal.. they transferred me to their manager (call center originally). I finally got his direct number and it was a dealership down in Florida.

My plan after getting a few more fake voice cails from the same people, I would use them for being on the DNC list. But it took several months and by that time, I lost all my notes with the dealer name/number.

The last time I tried to play along, they figured out I was playing them and hung up.

You are truly blessed. Your province registrar of motor vehicles evidently does not sell their list of newly registered vehicles. Sadly, in the states, it is a major source of revenue.

The BB units get picked up & go back to ford where familiarized competent techs refurbish the unit. Then it goes to auction. Warranty intact. Priced right. Hot commodity among dealers in the circle. This is what I was told by iconic long time dealer.
This makes sense to me. If a vehicle is bought back it doesn't have to go through the lemon law branding process, so the hit the dealer/manufacturer takes is way less.

@Michael Lopour

Dealerships are in the business of making money - so in the end, they always make a profit.

Here's what typically occurs: A buy-back Explorer goes to a dealers lot.

Knowing it's a buy-back (thus harder to sell to informed/computer savvy consumers), the sales manager creates a sales contest.

The Goal: Sell it as a financed vehicle, specifically targeting high risk customers (i.e. customers with bad credit) and the salesperson that accomplishes this gets a higher than normal sales bonus on that sale.

The profit margin on a high-risk consumer finance sale will cover the buy-back "losses, the salesperson's bonus, and then some...

When a vehicle is 'bought back', it belongs to the manufacturer, not the dealership. Thus all the paperwork.

My buyback was completed today. Dropped off at the dealership for the last time 12/23/2019 and just got my check today. Glad its over. I have purchased another Ford. This time F150 Lariat all options except power running boards and sunroof. See how this one goes. Good luck to those still in the buyback process.

Thanks for the update Drew. Hope it is all you wanted. Don't forget to update your profile if you plan to stick around now and then.
