Buying another Explorer

I'm thinking of burying my 91 sport 4.0 and upgrading to a stock 98,99.00.01, 02 or maybe even a new 03. any comments on a good year or models to stay away from. I think I want the xlt , not sure of 6 or 8 cyl yet.
I want to modify but don't do much offroad anymore.

Get a 99+ V8 AWD. The 98 was the first year of the newer styling, so I reccomend staying away from it...

Get a '99 V8 AWD! (That's what the bottom half of mine is and I highly reccommend it!) You'll have the best of all worlds. Performance, reliability, coolness factor....

Crankcase what's wrong w/a 98. nothing here with myself or my Dad's X's. Funny thing is My Dad and I seem to get the new design years. I have had a 91XLT and I have a 98 & 03XLT. My Dad had a 91XLT, 95XLT & a 01 or 02 Sport(not sure). We have never had a problem w/any of these trucks.

Usually the first year of any major change has bugs....you must have been lucky.

For example, alot of things were changed from 91-92....
