A little history, a few days ago going down hill my 97 explorer started making a weird whiring noise every time I would let go of the gas. However when I would press on the gas it would stop the noise and it felt like it would go back in gear. I started googling the problem and came across an archive post here. That post pretty much described the issues I was having and indicated it was with the transfer case; more specifically the range fork/ range slider going bad. Anyways so after a few hours of taking the TC out and popping it open I pull out the Range fork and this is what I found.
Range fork missing one plastic guide. I found the guide as little parts that looked like they had exploded in the TC.

The range slider didn't look like it was that worn however I'm replacing it anyways.
The explorer has 181k miles on it.
Should I be looking at anything else?
