I came across a couple threads on the brown wire mod and started searching and noticed the vehicles capable of this modification were 97 and up 4wd guys. I saw the term 'auto 4wd' thrown around and wondered if this mod was possible for my 5.0 AWD. If this is possible i know what im doing on my 2 days off. Any considerable mpg changes? Any response is appreciated. Thanks guys.

Your AWD transfer case is full time. The only electrical connection is the speed sensor.

Now--you could swap in a BW 4406 transfer case. I can feel the 2wd difference!!

This is the only link you need for all the info on the Brown Wire Mod.

And, in the first section, it clearly states,
Third, let me make this perfectly clear: If you have a second-generation V-8 with All Wheel Drive, this mod does not work for you.

'Nuff said. Good luck! :)

eh, it was worth a shot. i always miss relevant stuff when i skim through pages. i still am curious to know what the torque split is between the front and rear differentials. maybe the brown wire mod just wasnt meant to be for me, if i wasnt all wheel drive i prbly wouldnt have a chance against my friends in their little hondas.
