I just bought a 99 Mazda B4000 to add to the family and the first thing I'm going to do to it is add an aux filter for the tranny. With the recent craze about bypass filter I was wondering if anyone has done this or saw the benefit in doing it to the tranny. More importantly, could this be done as easily as putting it in parallel with the stock cooler instead of in series as you do with a full flow...would the pressure drop across the cooler be enough to get any flow through the bypass...if so, its almost as easy as installing a full flow so why not. Otherwise it becomes more complicated. Anybody have an ideas.

An axillary ATF filter is a very prudent thing to do, however, since a tranny is not as "dirty" as a motor, I see no need for bypass filtration in the tranny.

And yes, I use bypass filtration on my motor.

Thanks Al. I'm not surprised you're the first to respond. I'll stick with a straight full flow just like on the X. Thanks a bunch.
