cam sensor

I have the check engine light on in my 94 ex 4.0 . I keep bringing up code 214
cam sensor . It sounds like a trick to change this . So what I am wondering
Can I get one from a junk yard and just replace the center with out pulling the sensor out of the block ? will the timing be messed up ? My ex is becoming a "b" to start lately . Changed the fuel filter .Plugs , Plug wires ,New battery .
Thinking of changing the starter too . Anyone know about this ?

well you could "try" and just replace the actual sensor and not the synchronizer but i dont think you will have much success. as far as the timing when you install the new censor shaft or not there is a process of "zeroing" the sensor so it reads correctly. Its a major pain in the a**

This is a pretty basic part... if it is actually faulty, it's probably the electronics in the sensor. You might be able to just swap that out, I have not found a good diagram for that yet.
