Is there a write-up for replacement of the CPS? I've searched and searched, but all I find is sketchy information, some useful, some not, but nothing is organized or in a 1,2,3 instructions format. Thanks,

John
btw, rear end is resolved. Carrier bearings and pinion bearings and seal all replaced. All had scoring, some worse than others... carrier bearings were pretty bad. For a rear end anyway.

Great - thanks.

- I'm relatively mechanically inclined - how long will this job take?

- I haven't looked at it yet under the hood - anything need to be removed to get to the CPS?

- Is the 'special tool' that comes with the part from RockAuto the 'special tool' I need for the job?

- Facing the engine from the front of the truck, which cylinder is #1?

Thanks again.

1) about 2 hours total. Possibly less
2) it is right where a ford distributor would be-up front under the coil packs-
3) I don't believe the rockauto part is the one you need-you need the whole drive unit (dealership part), and the tool is available in the second link first post
4) #1 cylinder in a "V" engine is always the furthest one forward--in this case it is the front passenger side cylinder.
