camshaft synchro

so i removed the camshaft sensor i noticed broken plastic in it. on top of synchronizer theres a sort of u shape metal. i am supposing it rotates inside plastic sensor? the u shape metal on synchro is a bit bent. should both synchro and sensor need replacing? check engine p0340 camshaft positioning sensor 1 circuit malfuntion. If so how do you sync it using special tool?

I would replace both (sensor and syncro), unless you are willing to do the job twice.

The tool as well as simple instructions will usually come with the assembly.
