Can someone please tell me if the cam sync is supposed to sit flush? I can feel the gears twist as they mesh but the "shiny" exposed portion (red circle) has me second guessing myself. Please ignore the orientation of of the install tools arrow, I can explain if necessary.
UPDATE, after realizing the Dorman unit had a larger diameter o-ring than o.e. the cam sync slipped right in! I got her all back together only to have an engine that runs like crap...thought I had it on tdc on compression stroke on cylinder one, can someone please confirm or deny this for me? Also should I have the crank positon needle pointing at the 0 or 10 mark?
