i recently got my sisters old explorer and would like to lift it at least 4" but i have not been able to find any lift kits. also i am on a budget so i was wondering if a body lift kit would increase clearance so i couls put on some tires that are 33" or bigger.

do f150 coil seats in the front and shackles in the rear, with a body kit and you can clear 33s for very cheap!!

2wd beamed truck is EASY to lift

whats your goal? looks? or are you going to beat on it?

what i am looking for is both looks and beating on it. i would like to take it off road at my ranch, get it in mud , but not rock crawling its my dd. any information that you could offer would be great.

also if you could tell me where to get the parts that would be very helpful, Thanks for all of your help

I would like to have at least 33s and I'm not sure about the rear axle gears. My budget is about 800 for the suspension and body lift. Also should I get new rims or keep the stock.

do ranger lift kits really work in explorers.

91-94 explorer shares the same front suspension as a 84-97 Ranger, yes.

the first lift I installed on my BII was a James Duff 3" VR lift for a Ranger

thank you for all your help, those sites are great and fairly cheap.if i did change the gears what would it do, and about how much would it cost?

alright so basically im looking for a 2" suspension lift for a very cheap price i kno about the f150 coil seat wat years that range from and wat about shock and a u-bolt and block lift kit on the rear leaf springs

You can't block the rear it would drop your truck.only options are soa, helper springs, shackles or new leafs all together.f150 seats and shackles will get you close to 2" as stated in post 2

i'll have to do some digging, but I am 99% sure that explorers and rangers (2wd) have different I beam mounting points. BII and rangers are the same, but I am pretty sure explorers are different.

You can also just buy 2" Skyjacker lift springs for the front and put some WAR shackles on the rear. You will need to have new camber bushings installed for the front and a alignment or two done on it. Also in my opinion stock front shocks aren't long enough for lifting 2" for real off road use.

..I took these today and they are not the best...They are of a 95 Ranger 2wd...;)

..As opposed to my 95 stock 4x4 Ranger brackets..

could you do me a big favor and measure the distance between beam mounting points? that's the difference that will cause problems, I think.

...If you are asking about the measurements on the 4x2, It was only because of this thread I snagged the pics...I didn't know the guy and he thought I was odd already when I walked up, layed on the ground and started taking pics of his under carriage...:D

...If I see one on a lift I will take measurements but I couldn't crawl under the dang thing as they are to close to the ground...

...I did notice a couple things different...There is only one bolt on the cross member for a 4x4 and the 2 bolts on the cross member for the 4x2 both seem to be in different positions as opposed to the 4x4's single bolt location...

...My eye also told me the 4x2 cross member did not hang as low as a 4x4 cross member...That would be worth measuring too as I believe I read somewhere that the two are different...:dunno:

It looks like you can up and swap that 95 2wd crossmember to a 91-94 x 4x4 frame..... Mmmm Im thinking bags on beams now....

My understanding is 2wd 91-94 Explorers have the same mounting spots as 4wd TTB, so whatever brackets work on 4wd TTB will work.

They are different than the 2wd Rangers
