Hi there,
I"ve had a hell of a time with my torsion bars, i've broken 2 bolts on one side, and now the actual adjusters broken (awaiting part). In the mean time, i've bought some longer bolts, they are 100mm, can i screw them all the way up? I tried on one side today, and it seems REALLY hard? I am 4wd, and i intend to keep it to about 1.75" on the road, but i suppose occasionally, another 1.5" might happen (say if i intend to go trailing, etc.)

Also, anyone think of a reason why one side keeps breaking? And the adjusters be out of alingment or something? It's the drivers side.

Thanks! Matt.

Don't take them past 1.75-2", even on the occasional roading trip. It is just too much of an angle for the CVs. Even a short 4x4 trip can screw them up.

Remember, you are screwing up the allignment everytime you touch them. So, unless you want to get an allignment everytime you wheel, just leave them be.

Don't know about the bolts breaking.

yikes, o forgot about the alignment... thanks for the reminder, i guess i'll have to fix it up this time and leave it at about 2". And then of course get an alignment.

I read that you should always take the weight off the truck before adjusting them or you risk breaking them. Atleast thats what all the toyota people said about their pickups. Is that the common thing? are YOU doing it?

not to mention that it is about 10 times easier to turn the bolt.

I am! Actully, the problem is that the left, or driver side torsion adjuster is not aligned well, with the adjusting bolt, so it puts extra pressure on it, further, the new bolts i have, are not rounded at the top, so it's actully trying to bite into the adjusters..... With my 33"s on, i'm sitting at 37" at the front fenders, which is exactly 2" higher than stock - so i think i'll stay there for a while....(or so i hope)
