Just to add my .02 to this party:
I've bought many new vehicles over the years and my rule has always been "no free advertising." Some of the dealer stickers on vehicles in my area are absolutely hideous and were far worse years ago. Now they're mostly the plate frames, but I still see some stickers.
I tell the dealer after the deal is made (usually a day or two before delivery) that if there's stickers or decals from the dealer on it, I don't sign and I don't take delivery. I've never had an issue, nor have I had any dealer stickers on any of my vehicles.
Between us on the board (keep it under your hat, don't reveal my secret LOL), I could care less about the 'free advertising' aspect, but that's what I tell the dealer. I'm more concerned about the overall appearance.
