CB and antenna install pics

I finally got my CB all hooked up and installed permanently, and the antenna mounted. Thanks to all the help everyone on here gave me. I set up my antenna almost exactly the way MustangP51 did - he posted pictures in this thread:

Anyway, here's some pictures of my install, as I promised I would post.

Completely hidden...

And there it is. :D

Mounting bracket that comes with the CB was just screwed into the console cover. Simple, easy, and a perfect fit.

Now for the antenna...wire coming out of the console, under my rubber floor mat and then between the body and the rubber weather seal.

Follow the seal up the door and to the roof, where the mag mount is.

Sorry for the crappy pictures, just took 'em an hour ago, and it's a tad dark out. :D

Looks good. I like the mounting under the armrest. Not sure I'd mount my radio there ('cause I'd want to see the front easily), but it's a great spot for something.

Yea, it's not the easiest to see and adjust, but for the amount of times I use it (just in traffic jams and on trail runs I have yet to go on, haha), it's perfect. The speaker points out, so you can hear it very well. Everytime I had to grab stuff outta my console (very often) it was in the way. I'm very happy with it. Thanks again for the help.

Stole your idea on mounting the CB like that...
much more convenient that just shoving it between the seat and the console.

No write up? Please do! :)

I thought about doing one, but i thought people wouldnt want to cut up their console lid since they are hard to come by. But since you asked, I'll take it apart and snap some pics. Probably have it done by tomm.

write up on the way.....got a couple of pics today, but for the sake of the thread i will take it apart for more pics. it could also double as a re-upholstering a console lid thread-since i have two lids, a solid black one and a black one with the cut out- if there isn't one already out there??

oh and thanks guys:salute:

wisekise,

well, i work in construction and i camp out alot, so my truck stays filthy. i tried to cut the opening as tight as possible, but dirt and dust does get through. i thought of a solution though, a small rubber "grommet" cut to be snug on the cb but still allow opening/closing of the lid and fastened on the underside of the lid. haven't fabbed one up yet, just an idea. but like i said the i'm not too concerned with a little dirt in or on the truck, i gave up on that a long time ago

and i am still trying to get that write up done, work has kept me busier than i would like.

Could you mount it on the ceiling like in a big rig or not?

I don't see why not. I don't know of anyone that has done that on this, though.

Mount it on the ceiling, but use a backer board in the roof side, and some fender washers so it doesn't tear up the head liner. 1/4" or thinner will work great, and about the size of the radio that you are gonna mount or bigger for support.

Unbolt the passenger seat, and run it under the carpet, and down the inside of the Passenger B pillar, will be a cleaner install, and will keep passengers in the rear from pulling on the wire by accident. DOH!
