CD Drive Not Working

Have you tride a cleaner disk (the ones with the little brushes on) it may just have a dirty lens. Other than that it sounds like you've tried just about everything. Have you checked that all the cables are plugged in ok. Can you hear the drive spin up with a disk in it? They do bite the dust occasionally and yours may have done just that. Could be time for a new drive.

ok guys, thanks for all the help. it ended up crashing all together on monday night so i took it to best but (i have a 3 year warranty there) and they concluded that my harddrive crashed as well as my vd drive so i got new ones of each. the kicker is that the nad neither my harddrive or my cd drive in stocks so they gave me getter versions of both. on the downside i lost pretty much everything i had. papers, songs, programs, ect. oh well.
