CEL code 172 help

Hello:
Been getting a CEL for awhile in my 92 manual, accompanied by reduced fuel economy. I have new plugs, changed FPR and have tried to be thorough making sure there is no vacuum leak.

I have little restriction in the exhaust (no cat and a modified muffler)

The code is 172. Can an open exhaust cause this?

What else should I consider.

Code 172: Heated oxygen sensor indicates lean condition, right side.

At least that's what the Haynes Manual I have says...

If you haven't tried it yet, reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for about 10-15 minutes.

I'd also look into replacing your o2 sensors if it's been a while, it might just be a faulty sensor, especially if it's the original.

A lean condition could be caused by a vacuum leak or bad plugs, and wires. Did you replace the plugs before this problem started or after? What did the plugs look like?

Yea. I have replaced the O2 sensor and reset the computer. The plugs weren't so bad looking when I replaced them, but got fouled when the FPR failed.
