I replaced the intake manifold gasket on the 4.0 in my 93 ranger. Everything was good right after i did it, i drove it up and down the block and all seemed fine. then the next day i changed the oil and when iwas done i went to test drive it and right after i turned on the engine the cel flashed 3 times. It still did the thing where it lights up right as you turn the ingnition on, and then it did the flash. I tried to do the jumper thing with a multimeter to pull codes and that didn't work out at all. I couldn't get the computer to respond.
So today i went and bought a code reader. I did the KOEO and CM self tests, both came back 111. then i went to do the KOER test and it gave me the cyl 6 and then nothing, no passing code, or goose test code, i waited prolly 5 minutes with the engine running. The little triangle on the reader was still on saying the engine was in test mode. So i shut it off and tried again, this time i didn't even get the cyl 6 to come up. It is still doing the 3 flashes right after i start it up.
I can't find any info on why the light is flashing at me, any one else ever hadt that happen? I have heard that on an OBDII system that a flashing CEL can mean a misfire situation. Any truth to that, should i replace plugs and wires?
