CEL stays on while engine cranks goes off then starts

I don't know if this is normal or not but when my truck won't start the cel stays on while cranking I let the starter rest on the 3rd try and it went out and started right up would a bad icm cause this? I'll be pulling codes when I get time,

low cranking amp? not sure if these have those or not, remmeber that from club rsx iirc

At least on my explorer, the check engine light is on until the engine is running.

When the check engine light doesn't light up, the crankshaft position sensor failed
