The SES/check engine light came on, so I scanned and got code P0401.
Did some reading said EGR Assembly (egr valve + DPFE sensor) might be the problem.
With 234k, I figured why not, so installed new OEM EGR Valve Assembly.
Light still on. I know I could clear codes but want light to go out by itself so I know problem is gone.
It's been 2 days 5 startup cycles. Do I need more time/mileage for light to go off?
Or maybe it could be something else. All answers appreciated, thanks!

CEL will usually go out within 10-15 miles if the problem is fixed.
To clarify you changed both the EGR valve and DPFE sensor? I've never come across this code, but from what I've read most users issue lies in the DPFE, not the valve itself

Thanks for response. Well, I read that 2004+ vehicles the valve and DPFE are built as one unit, not separate pieces as before.

To any concerned (or not), the SES light finally went off.
It took about 4 days and 45 miles, longer than I expected.

Glad it worked itself out, having my own EGR problems now, hoping to have the same result as yourself
