So the driver side headlight was blown so i replaced it. Now im having issues with the batttery. Read through the posts and checked what i could. Dont have a voltmeter just a test light. I have voltage at the battery, at the post on the alternator, on the yellow wire with white stripe, and at the maxi fuse.
The battery light is on and gauge reads low even after a full charge is placed on the battery. If i disconnect the plug from the alternator the batt light goes out but gauge reads low.
Truck starts fine lights and heater work. Kinda acts like it wants to stall unless you rev it up. Replaced alternator about a month ago.
could i have dammaged the batt when i tipped it getting it out?

Thanks

if the battery light is on it means your alternator is not charging. it really has nothing to do with the battery, other than it's telling you you're not charging. did you pull on any wires that go to the alternator?

Im in the it could be anything stage but i thought that when i checked what i checked it would have eliminated wiring. Also the low voltage reading with a fully charged battery.

you're seeing low voltage because you're running of the battery w/out the alternator charging it. there is no doubt in my mind that you're alternator is not charging your battery. that's what turns on the BATT light.

+1 on this. My alternator died last year and this is exactly what hapened. Battery light stays on and battery voltage slowly runs down as it carries total electrical load of vehicle. Mine died at night, in the rain, about 40 miles from home. I was turning off headlights where/when I could, and just made it into garage at home. When I tried to restart engine - just got a "click." Luckily, replacing the alternator is fairly straightforward; hardest part was getting a bar on the idler pulley in a position where it had enough travel to release tension on the belt. Good luck.
