My truck was running 5w-30 Mobil 1 and developed a bad death rattle, changed the oil to 15w-50 and it really quieted it down. One thing I noticed it that oil was only in for about 100 miles and it was black. Usually that means bad rings but I took off the oil fill cap when it was running and it seems to have little/no blow by. Then I remembered I seafoamed this motor twice, I think this is what made my oil very black. So if you are seafoaming a high mileage motor I'd do an oil change soon after.
Yea I'm gonna fix the death rattle, just gotta keep on doing searches here. Alot of people have done it- but there is little info on actually how to DO it.
