Changing Daytime running lights to park lights?

Does anyone know how or if it's possible to change the daytime running lights from the headlights to the park lights?

Would this make the tail lights come on all the time?

Would this be more of a PITA than it's worth and why would I even bother?

i don't think it is possible. your day time running lights are basically you high beams ran at a lower voltage i believe.

In Canada you must have day time running lights.

Only exceptions are older grandfathered vehicles that didn't have that option. ie 87 Bronco II.

However if your vehicle came with them you must have them...it's the law man.

You'd have to check with the local RCMP to see if the park lights are sufficient.
However I think you're SOL.

i wouldn't go that far, i live in manitoba and have a h.i.d. kit in my 98 sport. because of that i don't have DTL and have never been bothered by the long arm of the law

daytime runners.

my daytime running lights have never worked since i bought the Ex used,, and it went thru an Ontario safety check,, government and all,, nobody ever bothers me,,,

i have fog lights on the bumper,, if it is questionable out, i will turn them on,, they are alot brighter than daytime runners,,,

You may want to check the laws in your area first to see if amber DRLs are acceptable in your area. If they are, you can purchase a unit that can be wired to the parking lights and the tail lights to provide Daytime Running Lights through parking and tail lights. Then unplug the stock DRL module to remove low beam DRLs.

(Alternatively, you could probably rewire the connector in the vehicle to power the parking lights instead of the low beams, but this might require some knowledge of the DRL wiring, and you won't have tailight DRLs and you won't be able to return to low beam DRLs easily if you find the parking light DRLs to be an issue.)

GM runs the DRLs through the parking lights on some modles, They power the 27watt section of the blinker/parking light bulb. Dont know how but they do & yes it looks good.

I agree that it looks better, thats why I wanted to do it. Sounds like it would be easier to disable the DRL and just turn on the park lights!
