Check Engine Light again! DPFE??

I have a 95 Explorer 4.0 V-6. I have been fighting this CEL problem since last summer. The error is the garage is getting is that the EGR valve is not opening. So far, the EGR valve, tube, and solenoid have been changed. That, I believe leaves nothing but vacuum lines and the DPFE sensor.
The truck runs really good and then will start to "surge" or buck, almost like it has a miss. Then you can wait 10-15 seconds and the light comes back on. What is the DPFE sensor and can it be cleaned? Should I just replace it?

First check to see if its melted on the back, mine was. I dont think you can clean it,but if you got to put a new one on anyway. Try and see if you can clean it, if it works dont buy a new one.
