Greetings from AK!

I'm new to explorer4x4, and I"m having some issues with my 2002 Explorer Sport. I began having low gas milage, and check engine light popped on. A diagnostic check came back with a PO171 & PO174, Lean bank 1&2.(?) Oxygen sensors are functional and the mechanic cleaned the mass air flow sensor. Now, after it's warmed up, it idles at about 500rpms and will fluctuate and stall out at stops if left in drive. (holds steadier at 500rpms in park or neutral, but will still stall out)

Can anybody help me out? Let me know what other info you might need....

I have been fighting this same demon (P0171 and P0174) for awhile. So, I searched the forums and from the various posts on this subject I compiled the following list of things to check, clean, or replace (if faulty or not too expensive).

1. Air filter
2. Ensure there are no obstructions in the air intake passage way
3. MAF
4. IAC
5. Throttle body
6. PCV
7. Spark plugs
8. Ignition wires
9. Fuel filter
10. Fuel pump
11. Vacuum hoses - check for leaks/obstructions
12. Intake manifold gaskets - try tightening manifold nuts to spec before replacing gaskets
13. Injectors
14. Oxygen sensors

I'm sure I missed some stuff???

i too have been chasing this code....some days it runs good, some bad. I missed someone suggesting tightening manifold gaskets. I think I will try that.

Dammit!! IM THE ONLY ONE FROM FAIRBANKS!
