Hi My name is Dom. I have a 1994 ford explorer xlt 4x4 6 cyl it has 94000 miles on her. It runs great. I have a problem with the check engine light. When I am pulling my travel trailer weight 3500lbs. The check engine light comes on about 2 to 3 hours into the trip.Black smoke comes out the tail pipe and the engine seams like it wants to stall.Engine runs ruff. It only last a few miles and then the light turns off and the engine runs fine.Then comes back on and the problem starts all over. It may do this 2 to 3 times in one 5 hour trip. If I go slower around 50 to 55 mph it not as much. If i am at 65-75 mph it happens more often. When I am not pulling my camper,the engine runs fine all the time.This problem only happens when I am pulling my camper. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
