Nice video! That's some serious muzzle flash! Wish I could find an indoor range to shoot .308 on up here in N. VA lol.

Yeah I'm going with Dinzag's tool rental for the barrel threading stuff and the front sight mod. I will be adding a Choate Dragunov stock and a Tapco intrafuse handguard. I also bought a POSP PRO 8x42 scope (1/2 MOA clicks).

Not to hijack the thread too much more but what kind of ammo are you getting the best groups with?

I was using ballistic tip but after a couple of hit at closer rang it was destroying a lot of meat, nice softball exit.so after a buddy gave me some ammo that his group uses I've changed.its 175gr boat tail hollow point match made by black hills.I don't know if they sell to the pulic, but your military anyways.he has many kills with it and my groups are sick and there is some deer left after a hit.I was taping quarters to my targets in the indoor range trying to get a quarter with a perfect bullet hole through it,yea only 35yrds but I was hiting every one of them, never found them!!!hahaha

yeah you can get that ammo on the civilian market it's just kind of expensive. I'll definitely try it out though to see how it shoots.

I looked at the shark brake but I was able to get a better price on a JP Tactical .308 brake so I went with it. Matter of fact, there's a pic on a saiga forum that shows a .308 with it on there and has the same stock and forearm and everything I'm going to use...my scope is a little different though...but it will give you a good idea what my final setup will look like:

So, I have a question about the HHR fan. Is it thinner than the taurus/mark VIII fan? I tried getting the mark VIII fan into my truck today and noticed that I didnt have enough room to fit it between my radiator and engine. Apparently they dont fit automatics or my radiator is thicker than most other guys. I have noticed a lot of the install pics show radiators without the back row of fins.

Here is the thread where I got the idea that the HHR fan might work on the X. It even includes dimensions etc.

That fan needs to be trimmed a lot to fit,the hhr fits fine without trimming on a manual radiator but needs the have a little trimmed off the motor case to fit an auto radiator.there is pics of page two or in that link

Yeah I caught that much. My issue with the mark VII fan is that the motor itself is to large even to fit between the radiator and water pump. I should be ok with the HHR fan though with just a little trimming. For now until it starts getting warm, I am just going to throw my escorts fan in since I had all the wiring ready, until I found out the fan didnt fit. I dont feel like doing anything with it this weekend, and I dont want to overheat now that we are getting close to 80's, so the EGT fan should get me by until I get an HHR fan shipped to me.

My old clutch fan was soooo cracked and stuck. I dont miss that howl or the extra gas it took to run it.

That looks a fan that comes as an option for the tow package.it goes on the trans cooler,I have one.unless they make a bigger one that would not keep you cool as a main fan.to each his own,I love this fan it took VERY little trimming, covers the whole radiator and is pretty quiet and cheap!!

Your right!, that is the fan for the tow package offered from 97 to cureent model year. GM dealer staes the HHR fan is rated at 2800cfm, not 4000cfm as stated by some using this fan. Ford Taurus fan is rated at 3000cfm per Ford. I had the crown vic fan flow tested and it put's out 4800cfm. It's a perfect fit for the 4.0L SOHC engine. I think the radiator on the 91-94 OHV engines was smaller than the 97-01 SOHC engine.

I've never see what the hhr pulls,I've looked and call dealers and the people that make the aftermarket fan and no one could tell me what the cfm are.I figured it was in the 3000 range.how did you test your fan and was it tested in car? Also did the fan need to be trimmed and is it two speed? You have any pics of it in the x,nice x by the way also.

That fan in your domain doesn't look like a vic fan.also that fan is a $128 and doesn't look like it would fit from what I can tell its 27x25 and would need a lot of trimming.pizza hhr is $58 and is 21x18.

Got to click on more info to get pizza sizes

The fan you see in my domain is from a 1996 crown vic police interceptor... I pulled it myself. I paid $50.00 for the fan including the whole wiring harness. The SOHC's radiator measurements are 26.5Wx19Hx3.75D. The fan is a perfect fit. All I had to do was drill two holes for the transmission lines to go through. Plus, it covers the whole radiator. The last thing I want is an engine that overheats and destroys the engine and my day. The OHV radiator is much smaller than the SOHC radiator

Rick, how thick is the Crown Vic fan motor, front to back? If it's thin I'd give it a look.

The Crown Vic fan is 4 inches thick. Just enough room to fit the fan. The Explorer fan shroud is 3.75 inches thick. There is a small rubber spacer behind the radiator that can be removed so it gives you another .25 inches of clearance. I can really feel the air move through the radiator.

You said you tested this fan,how did you test it?

I'm assuming that would'nt be a stock Ford item if was a police interceptor model correct? The cooling systems are upgraded after they leave the factory aren't they?

Cool beans! So these should have a better flow then the HHR mod as it covers a greater surface area and higher amp motor? If that's the case I think I found my next mod, my clutch fan is starting to get cracks in it and I lost the shroud when I did the BL.

I don't know where you can buy that fan he has but if you Google it the fan looks totally different and the sizes would not fit an explorer and is double the price,i posted links that i found and it is the same fan for all models.so post some pics and where you can get it from and where or how you tested the cfms in a new thread.it also wouldn't cover more area that is made for cooling just the side tanks, the hhr covers just the area made for cooling and more amps don't mean better cooling just a more costly controller and amp load on the alt.
