Clear Coat for metal?

while being in the motion of installing my lift I started to sand my coil spring bucket holder(the part you see looking just above the tire. And started to like the look of keeping this as bare metal. I did this before and in l;ess than a month rust started taking over. is there a protective cleat coat i can use that prevents rust. I think I seen something at checkers but I think it adds a grey color and is specialized for mainly plactics.

regular acrylic enamel should do fine

rustoleum or something would be better.... but i dont think it is available in clear......

not sure on durability, but it works ok on metal surfaces like fenders and such.....

so head to a hobby store or sumthin?

just regular stuff.... home depot or whatever... wherever you buy automotive grade paint has it..... just clear....

o.k. Auto zone had some Dupli-Color Lacquer paint and I'm assuming it'll work.-----any comments?

is that cool, or is there anything out there better?
