Hello,

as many before me I too have the 5 times 5 beeps. Thanks to this forum I know it is related to light bulbs being out. I took the cluster out and indeed I have 3 backllight light bulbs blown. But the weird thing is someone has played with it before and I wonder why. It will be nice to have the back light back to full force but I mainly want to get rid of the beeps.

As you can see in the pictures the lead (don't know the technical word) has been tampered with (by accident or not) and then someone connected the battery warning light and the airbag warning light with a wire (which was loose when I took the cluster out). I wonder if that broken lead will cause the warning beeps because if so it'll still be there. Does anyone know enough about electronics to give me some advice? The main goal is getting rid of the beeps although it is a handy way to keep track of time :). Thanks in advance!

Fixed the cluster with a direct wire to that particular light bulb. Which is good.
The beep is gone. Now I have a airbag fault code. Which will make sense if you see the picture below: The connections which connect the airbag unit to the steering wheel are broken. The airbag was disconnected (hence the fault). They probably thought it was unsafe to leave it connected. They must have been real talented car electricians these guys because they also cut all the wires to the radio because the buttons on the steering wheel melted.

What can I do? Do I need to buy a whole steering wheel or can I just buy those connectors (circled on picture) for the airbag unit? The airbag unit itself appears to be fine.

Airbag warning light

When I bought my Sport years ago I was plagued with the 5 x 5 chimes which means the Airbag light is out. I finally got around to pulling the instrument cluster and learned that the lamp had been removed. When I replaced the lamp I then had an airbag fault. Obviously, a previous owner removed the lamp rather than fixing the fault. The lamp blinks a code that tells the type of fault. Mine was for the driver side airbag which my model did not come with. Read your code and post it if you can't find a decode by searching.

Hi, I know the problem, the airbag wasn't even connected, but thanks.
