How to: Clutch Pedal Swap in a First Gen Explorer

I just swapped in the clutch and brake pedals from a 1990 ford ranger into my 1994 ford explorer. They swapped easily and I did not remove the dash to install it in my explorer.
Remove the e-clip

Slide the clutch pedal over

The clutch and brake pedals removed that will be swapped over

Here is how you remove the auto pedal. It is easier to show how it is done on the steering column support that I had out of the 90 ranger than it would have been trying to take pictures from underneath the dash out of my 94 explorer
Complete assembly

Remove clip

Remove white bushing on brake switch

Note the black bushing in the switch

Another white bushing

Remove e-clip on the right side

Slide the pin out.

Note the bushings on the ends of the brake pedal pivot point

Note the bushings on each side of the steering column support

I swapped this plastic clip over to my manual brake pedal... It operates a switch.

A comparison shot of the automatic pivot pin compared to the pin that is attached to the clutch pedal. Same length.

There is enough room to slide that shaft(that pedals ride on) out in the car?

Yes. You will have to unbolt the parking brake pedal and move it out of the way for room to do it. It's a tight fit getting that shaft in and out, but it's doable.
