Hello all,
I've searched and searched through many threads and have not found an answer to this issue that others have also seemed to experience. I have a 1992 XLT 5 speed. First off I have a high idle which settles around 1000 rpm when warm. The issue I want to focus on is that when I coast and shift into the neutral, the idle "hangs" up around 1400-1500 rpm until I slow down until significantly to a stop. Then the idle drops back to around 1000 rpm. Why would the idle jump up with the transmission decouple in neutral? Is this normal, is there some sort of speed sensor that affects this?
