Hello,

I have a 2002 Explorer 4.0. I went to get a smog test done and failed
(no engine light on). The codes were P0153 and P1151. The P0153 code 02 circuit slow bank 2 sensor 1 which I understand is on the driver side pre cat. Well I install a new sensor I got the same P0153 reading, but didn't get the P1151 reading.

I appreciate any comments.

Check this out... Everything I've read leans towards the 02 sensors..

This link is for an Expedition (same principle though) to better explain it.

"Air leaks after the MAF" Was my problem. After 10 years of being expanded and contracted the seals in my intake manifold were dry rotted and cracked, letting in air before warm up (after warm the seals would expand not allowing air to enter the mani).

Point is, it could be a MAF's (electrical/induction) issue or it could be another 02 sensor likely the one you did not replace.

I would definitely check the induction system for any leaks first. The tell tale sign is on a cold day start your truck, if the truck has an stumble in the idle or just shuts off due to improper A/F mixture you probably have a leak.
