Composite Intake Crack

Just bought this exploder and it's already...exploding.

Cliffs:

Overheating
Coolant pooling on top of engine
Oil/Exhaust is fine

I've read these composite intakes like to crack. Is that the likely culprit? Can't see a crack, but this just happened after the sun went down. (Coolant is pooling under intake) Also the cruise control works intermittently... vacuum issue associated with failing intake?

Would a cracked intake cause these symptoms? What's the best route for a replacement if so? Also, estimated replacement hours from shade tree mechanic?

Which engine? If 4.0 search "lower thermostat housing" in this 2002-05 forum. Very common.

Yep. I would give it a 90% chance of a cracked thermostat housing. Mine puddled up just as you described. It's a pretty easy fix.
