A friend of mine has the computer to hook up to my '03 ranger to find out why my check engine light is on. He went to hook it up and his screen is blank, nothing shows up. He checks his ranger and it works fine any advice?!?!?!?!?

relay fuse

i have checked the fuses in the cab and under the hood. my guess is that it might be a relay fuse but i am not sure 1 how to check them to make sure they are working properly and 2 where or how i would go about replacing them

I moved this thread to another sub forum for better response-
You might check the wiring to the data port-
You mention a friends Ranger-which year is it?

i am not sure but if i had 2 guess i would say mid to late 90's

Hmm
If his truck is a "95 or older it has a different ECM system, and the reader may not ( most likely will not) work.
Which brand of reader is it? Model number?

Does it say anything like " OBD 1 " on it?

Take that ranger to Autozone, they will read your code free of charge--
just don't let them seel you anything-especially an 02 sensor

post the code up here first-someone will help you troubleshoot it-
