I had reason to remove my battery over the weekend to clean the terminals and clamps of corrision.

I tried a 12V slave battery to protect the continuance of power so the computer did not go offline.

Unfortunately, one of the connections I used slipped off and stopped power to the vehicle.

After the successful cleaning and reinstalling the terminal connectors there was a delay of about 1 second or so before the vehicle responded to the battery power.

I also noticed that my Explorer has a sealed Motorcraft battery which I assume does not require servicing.

3 questions,

1. Is a sealed battery original for a 1996 Explorer, as I have never had one before what would the usable life be?

2. Is it usual after disconnecting the battery upon reinstalling the power for a slight delay of response?

3. I have read in the Forum that the computer my take varying times to reset after being disconnected from battery power. What experiences have other Explorer owners had in the computer reset time?
