Here's my take on changing coolant,
There are several ways one of them involves flushing which I don't want to do since I don't see any need for it. The coolant I'm going to add anyway is safe with the existing coolant. The process of putting tap water and flushing it out until its clear is also time consuming. Also there are discrepancies on what to add after the flush, some say add 50/50 premix coolant (this ends up only 25% antifreeze added), some say 100% coolant since water was added anyway (will be 50% antifreeze). I don't want to put tap water into my cooling system or remove the thermostat. I just went ahead drain and refill the coolant although it's only 50% initially. It doesn't matter as long as this process is being done yearly (or more than in 1 year), the coolant will always be not 100% old. I don't see any issues with bleeding air compared to my 98 continental.
The mountaineer with the aux climate control has 20 qts of coolant of which 10 qts (2.5 gals) gets drained.
