Coolant leak 2002 explorer 4.0 v6

I have a coolant leak that is coming from behind the engine and it seems to be up by the manifold, I looked back there with a mirror and it looks like it could be leaking from a freeze plug. The freeze plug looks like it could have something that is suppsoed to be screwed over it, anyone else ever have this problem???

Welcome to this forum! Connect a cooling system pressure tester to the radiator. It will help you find where the leak is coming from.

there is a freeze plug in the back of the left side head requires removing the intake and pressing in a new plug

Possibly the thermostat housing is cracked and leaking......it leaks all into the upper vally area of the engine.....and out the back ..
