Ok...here it goes. I have a 98 Explorer with the 4.0 OHV engine. It has 271K miles on it and runs great. I had been noticing a slight smell of coolant over the past several months and it was starting to get stronger. Last week I noticed a few small "drops" of coolant on the coil pack and noticed coolant on top of the lower intake, mostly on the passenger side. Well Saturday I replaced the lower intake gasket along with the upper and valve cover gaskets. I figured that the coolant leak was coming from the lower intake gasket since they are known to be problematic. After putting the gaskets on and getting everything back together I thought I had the problem fixed.

I was out driving today and started smelling the coolant again. I popped the hood and sure enough there is a small puddle of coolant on the lower intake near the #1 fuel injector. I can not for the life of me figure out where it is coming from. I have posted some pics for you to look at.

Does the fuel injector boss go through a water jacket?

All help is greatly appreciated...
