My Ranger truck is passing a really bad time.....two weeks ago, I realized that my truck needed some. The same situation repeated again almost every day but adding more coolant.

The situation became hard when I found engine oil olor changed (like chocolate) when check oil dipstick. So, I noticed the water was flowing into the engine.

Sparking plugs don´t show oil or water deposits, and coolant into radiator doesn´t show oil traces too. I´m suspecting that the leak is probably comming from either the timing chain cover (pump coolant ducts), or one of the cylinder head (V6 engine).

Does anyone can give me some advices to identify where the leak is probably comming and what engine component is sourced ? I´d really appreciate.

Does anyone has experienced a problem like this ?

Thanks.

Welcome to this forum! The first step is to use a radiator pressure tester like the one made by Stant. You could get a loaner from AutoZone. Pressurize the system, and see if you get a pressure drop. Check to see where the antifreeze is going into.

Head Cover inspection

:exporange Thank you. I checked the engine, and It seems the right head cover is damaged. I will take it to the specialist for inspection.

Let us know if it was a leaking gasket, or the actual head. I once had a really bad coolant leak from the side of the head. It turned out that the head of the bolt broke off. I loosened the other bolts, and got a vice grip around the broken bolt, then replaced the bolt. I didn't need any new gaskets, or paste. I still can't figure out how something like that could have happened. Those bolts are grade 8, or higher.

Hello!

Bad news for me....the left cylinder head was found with an internal crack between coolant and oil ducts.....in according to specialists, it´s not possible to repair it....

I´m still looking for a reman cylinder head to replace the fault one....The exhaust and intake valves for both CH need to be replaced too.........

Anyway, ......I hope to repair the truck soon :(
