First Engine problem :P

when i start it sometimes it fires up right away, others it cranks for a while then starts and sometimes it cranks for a while then stumbles and fires. other then that it always runs mint.

a mechanic at work was saying it was the priming circuit, but after reading through my Haynes manual, and shop key, i cannot find anything on this?

I'm kind of thinking the fuel pump is starting to go (250,000Km), I'm going to try and source a pressure gauge and then see what its at, also take the connectors that go to the pump/sending unit, as well as to the starter apart and clean the connections. (i'm sure they are full of mud now...)

any more ideas?

Fuel filter?

Have you replaced your fuel filter according to the maintenance schedule?

What is your alternator capacity? Have you monitored your voltage to see if it's low? Maybe three batteries and all of your sound equipment is too much for your alternator.

turn the key to the on position a couple of times then start it and see if it fires right up
listen for the fuel pump while doing so, it should run for 2 seconds to prime the fuel rail every time the key is turned on. this is what your mechanic is speaking of

nah the alt is fine, just replaced it voltage is at about 12.5-13 when off and 14.4 when running, fuel filter was also done last summer.

SuRrEaLNJ yea, Ive been doing that it does help.

should i replace the fuel filter again or what?
