Hey guys im new to the forum, but hoping to get some help.
I have a 1999 Exploder with the 4.0 SOHC, with 167,000 mi.
I bought this car about a month ago and dont know too much background on the car.
So here is my problem, Last night i drove the car for about a hour and a half, with no problems, got home, turned it off for the night, went out this morning to go to wk, and all it will do is crank, so i stumped, usually i do something to make my cars break, but this time i didnt do anything HAHA! So needless to say i dont even know where to start, my car came with no owners manual, so i dont even have a fuse diagram. so i thought while i was at work i would post this and perehaps when i go home ill have so many sugestions i can stay awake for two days tryin fix my exploder haha.. Thanks Guys

Welcome to this forum! Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key? Do you see a check engine light turn on when you turn the key to the accessory (not crank) position? There might be a code stored in the computer if you could get a code reader or a scanner connected to it.

do you hear ur fuel pump?

Do you have the right key in the ignition? If you have a key without the chip in it, it will just crank and not start.

im not sure about the fuel pump, whenever i get off work ill look into it more, as to the key, all i have is one key, its the same one that has been starting it, i went to autozone on my lunch break, and picked up a new fuel filter, ill try that when i get home also. ill let yall know what i find

okay guys, im not getting any fuel.. anyone know where the fuel pump relay is? and does a fuel pump go out over night like that?

The fuel pump relay is located under the hood in a row with other relays (A/C, PCM, etc). Check to see if the check engine light goes on when you turn the key to the accessory position. If it doesn't, then the PCM relay could be at fault. Did you also check the inertia switch? It has a reset which cuts out the fuel pump if it trips.

yea. i think i have narrowed it down to the fuel pump, i was going to ask if someone knew where the reset for the fuel pump cutoff was at.. if it is the pump, i am going to try the reset switch before replacing the pump.. i guess i didnt know that fuel pumps could go out "just like that"

okay heres the update, Everything checks out good, exept the fuel pump, so today ill have it towed to the shop, and shell out 500.00 for a new fuel pump, i would do it myself, but there are certian things that i just wont try to mess with, flamible substances and I just cant seem to agree for some reason.. so i think ill leave it to the experts HAHAH.. Thanks for all the help.. this forum ROCKS
