Crankshaft Sensor & Ham Radio
I am on my fourth crankshaft sensor in my 97 Explorer. Fortunately, I have only had to pay for one. Also have a Yeasu FT-100 ham radio, which I primarily use for VHF/ UHF and some HF. My dealer says Ford has had failures of this part in vehicles with two-way radios. My radio transmissions and failures of this part have never coincided. I use no amplifiers to boost power. Maximum output is 100 watts.
Besides my failure this week, the last one failed in July of 2001.
The guys on the ham/ CB forum suggested I post here also. Suggested I check with the dealer on any technical service bulletin. No one there has seen this. Anyone else out there have this problem or can point me in a direction to figure out what the cause of this failure is would be appreciated.
